Review of the Alternative Investment Standards - ensuring their relevance for the future
We will soon embark on a project to review the Alternative Investment Standards, and we hope that our members and other industry participants will provide input and guidance to this process. The review of the Standards will have several objectives:
- Simplifying the wording of the incumbent Standards and guidance to a more principles-based style.
- Reviewing the Standards to account for:
- Closed ended vehicles
- Private market strategies
- Digital assets
- Account for changes in industry regulations.
- Comparability against other industry representative bodies’ guidance or principles.
It is anticipated that the review process will take a modular approach, dealing with sections of the Standards individually. Initially, we propose to start with a review of the Standards related to Valuation, cumulating in a consultation process in Q4 2024.
By continuing to work together, we can ensure that the principles of good governance, robust risk management, and investor alignment are not only maintained but continue to be strengthened. The success of these initiatives relies heavily on your active participation and ongoing support.
The SBAI team welcomes your input on this project. Questions and queries can be directed to the Research and Content Director, Brian Digney at [email protected].
