Andrea Dougall’s practice primarily focuses on representing investors on their global fund investments. Her clients include a number of significant sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and other global institutional investors, whom she advises on investments in open- and closed-ended funds, separate managed account arrangements, co-investments, joint venture arrangements, and other bespoke investment structures and platforms across asset classes. Andrea is admitted to practice in England & Wales.
Specifically, Andrea has experience in drafting and negotiating the terms of limited partnership agreements, subscription agreements, management and advisory agreements, and side letters for clients investing into leveraged buyout, real estate, energy, infrastructure, venture capital, special opportunity, credit, distressed debt, special opportunity, and hedge funds.
Andrea also provides ongoing advice in connection with investments, including transfers of interest, mostfavored-nations processes, and additional equity commitments. Andrea has worked opposite a large number of major fund managers and has assisted her clients to deploy billions of capital into private investment funds.
Furthermore, Andrea provides advice in connection with digital assets and the various regulatory frameworks in the United Arab Emirates, and has authored articles, contributed to reference guides and books, and presented on webinars and panel discussions with respect to the same. In addition, Andrea undertakes work for a range of pro bono clients, including the International Senior Lawyers Project and an orphanage in Ethiopia.
Andrea has practiced law in London and the United Arab Emirates. Andrea has been based in the Middle East since 2014.
Executive Director, SBAI
Thomas Deinet was appointed Executive Director of the SBAI (previously known as the HFSB) in 2008. In 2007, Thomas joined the working group to project manage the development of practice standards proposed by 14 leading international alternative investment managers that led to the establishment of the SBAI.
Prior to joining the SBAI, he was a senior manager at Oliver Wyman, where he extensively worked with major financial institutions in Europe covering asset management as well as corporate and investment banking. Thomas also worked as an analyst in energy trading for a major commodities trading firm.
Thomas is a graduate of the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, with a major in industrial engineering and holds an MSc from Purdue University, USA. Thomas is a CFA charterholder.
Managing Director, Valuation Advisory Services, Kroll
Hakim has performed valuations of equity and debt instruments across a broad spectrum of industries and geographies under the IPEV Guidelines. Previously, he has assisted alternative fund managers in establishing valuation policies and procedures that meet investor and regulator standards of top tier governance and independence. Hakim’s valuation experience also includes assisting a broad range of international clients in determining values for financial reporting, tax, business strategy planning and restructuring, transaction advisory support and M&A purposes. In addition, Hakim has worked on numerous assignments valuing intangible assets.
Prior to joining Kroll, Hakim was a manager in the Valuation department of EY’s Global Financial Services practice in London. He has also worked as an analyst in the Financial Advisory Services division of Houlihan Lokey and as a credit analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Hakim holds an M.Sc. in finance from the Kedge Business School. He is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
