Senior Fund Manager, Hedge Fund Investments Group , Tokio Marine Asset Management
Mr. Kitagawa is a Senior Fund Manager at Tokio Marine Asset Management(TMAM). Prior to joining TMAM in 2023, he was a Partner at an alternative investment boutique firm, MCP Asset Management. Previously, he held a number of investment, quantitative research and risk management positions while working at such firms as Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan. He has more than 15 years of hedge fund investment experience and 27 years of experience in the financial industry.
Mr. Kitagawa received an MBA from Columbia University and a B.S. in Computer Science from College of William and Mary. He is a Certified Member Analyst of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (CMA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Senior Investment Officer, Private Investments, Asset Management One Alternative Investments
Mr. Tajima joined AMOAI in 2023 and is responsible for research on private funds, including private equity, private debt, and infrastructure funds. Prior to joining AMOAI, Mr. Tajima was Management Director at Mizuho Securities Principal Investments, where he led 44 investments in domestic and international private funds. He started his carrier at Sumitomo Trust & Banking and have engaged in investments at U.S. hedge fund, Australian Investment Bank, and Japan Bank for International Cooperations.
Mr. Tajima earned his BA degree in School of Law from University of Tokyo.
General Manager, Operational Due Diligence, Asset Management One Alternative Investments
General Manager, Operational Due Diligence Department at AMOAI since April 2024. Toshiya serves as the Operational Due Diligence Committee chairperson.
Prior to joining AMOAI in Nov 2021, Toshiya was a Deputy General Manager at the risk management department and the planning department of MS&AD Holdings for 9 years and promoted enterprise risk management. Prior to MS&AD, Toshiya had been involved in investment management at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, at which he started his career after he graduated the university in 1991.
Toshiya graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology with Industrial Engineering major in 1991. Toshiya is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder.
Partner, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius
Carol Tsuchida focuses her practice on investment funds and financial regulatory matters, as well as labor and employment. She helps clients establish, register, and license investment funds in Japan, and she assists with regulatory issues, including those pertaining to Japan’s Financial Instruments and Exchange Law. Additionally, Carol counsels investors across many jurisdictions who are investing in infrastructure funds, hedge funds, and private equity funds throughout Asia.
Fluent in Japanese and English, Carol handles transactional and general corporate matters, including securities law compliance, investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, underwritten public offerings, private equity financings, and venture capital transactions.
In the labor and employment area, Carol counsels companies on their employment law obligations in Japan. She advises on the structure of employment contracts and assists employers in developing and implementing workplace policies. Carol helps employers navigate regulations related to overtime.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Carol served as the assistant general counsel for a leading international financial institution that specializes in real estate investment funds.
Executive Director, SBAI
Thomas Deinet was appointed Executive Director of the SBAI (previously known as the HFSB) in 2008. In 2007, Thomas joined the working group to project manage the development of practice standards proposed by 14 leading international alternative investment managers that led to the establishment of the SBAI.
Prior to joining the SBAI, he was a senior manager at Oliver Wyman, where he extensively worked with major financial institutions in Europe covering asset management as well as corporate and investment banking. Thomas also worked as an analyst in energy trading for a major commodities trading firm.
Thomas is a graduate of the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, with a major in industrial engineering and holds an MSc from Purdue University, USA. Thomas is a CFA charterholder.
